Step 2 is concerned with adding authors to the new reference. The image below shows you what this step will look like when you first begin using the software. After you have been using the software for a while the left hand list will have a long list of authors (sorted alphabetically by surname) that you can choose from. To add an author from the list of known authors simply select it and press the button marked with ">" to remove an author select it in the right hand list and press the button marked "<". To speed up the process you can also double click to quickly add and remove authors.

Adding an Author
Since there are currently no authors in the system you need to add one (or many). To add an author simply click on the "New Author" button towards the bottom of the screen. This will present you with a box similar to the one seen below.

When you have finished filling in the fields (see image below) press the "Ok" button to add the author. The "Ok" button wont highlight until the required fields are filled in correctly. In this case the required fields are
- Initials
- Surname

NOTE : If you add a new author and then choose to remove it by either method the author will be permanently removed. In the case where you are removing an author that was already known in the system the author is NOT removed from all the other references it is ONLY disassociated from the current reference.

The image below show the minimum required to progress to the next step of the wizard; one associated author. You can add as many authors as you like to a paper. Don't worry about accidentally adding an author twice if you have a long list the software will stop that from happening.
