The View Port is the primary place view information about your references. It shows you all the information stored on you reference in a concise and to the point manner. The image below shows you the initial viewing window after a papers has been selected (from the search results for instance). The window can be dragged larger if you wish to open a number of references simultaneously.

Formatting
One of the most useful features of Refas is the ability to be able to format a reference for inclusion into another document. This saves you time and typing and hopefully helps prevent mistakes.
To open the formatting simply press the "Show Formatting" button. The formatting pane pops up from the bottom (as seen below). There is a drop down list of formatting styles which can be added to at any time (see web site for details). At the moment "Complete Paper" is selected so that reference has been formatted to include the whole reference. This formatting style is useful if you want to produce cover slips for you references. If you press the copy to clipboard button (to the right of the formatting style drop down list) the formatted reference will be placed on the clipboard in RTF (Rich Text Format) which can be pasted into many word processors including Microsoft Word.

Choosing Another Formatting Style
If you want to cite a reference a good place to start is with the formatting. If you chose "Basic Reference" Refas will format the reference in such a way as to be ready for entry into a document with minimal of no modification. Again to copy it to another document use the copy button next to the formatting style.

Displaying an Associated Image |
The image below shows two features. In the main window you can see one of the images that has been stored with the reference. In the image the "Scale to Window" check box is tick this causes the image to fill the current window. If you want to see the image at its native size uncheck this box.
Towards the top of the viewer you can also see a "shaded" window. To shade a window simply drag the bottom of the window right up to the top. To un-shade it reverse the procedure.

Finally you can minimize a window to a small button that can then be dragged around the screen.
