Introduction

This is the story of two people, Hazel (Fraggle) and Graham (Doozer), and their love affair with an old house. The house is called Garrick House and it resides in the city of Gloucester in Gloucestershire, England. The house was build around 1820 and is “Grade II” listed. Over the years there have been a few alterations to the house but the main body of it is fairly original. Although the house appears to have been occupied throughout its history it has fallen on hard times in the last few years having been used as eight bedsits.

This diary follows the day to day ups and downs of looking after an old house. The highs and lows of spending more money than you can imagine on a place that you aren’t sure whether you can support. We can’t tell what the future will bring but there is one thing that is certain – it will be exciting finding out.

This diary started out life following the purchase of another property called Dean Croft which was on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean. Unfortunately that purchase fell through because the property was as good as ready to collapse. We have left that story of that property in though as it means we have the full story of how we have ended up where we are.
