There is a huge difference between home-made beef burgers and shop-bought burgers. Making burgers is cheap simple and fun, especially for kids - get them to mix and shape their own burgers and then an adult can cook the burgers for the children. once the burger is cooked, they can make up their roll - ideally give them a choice of bread rolls and salad as well as sauce. Try to use the leanest minced beef you can for this recipe, as it will really enhance the flavour of the burgers, as well as being much better for you. Serve with a choice of salad vegetables, including coleslaw, spring onions, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes etc and a variety of sauces, such as mild mustard, mayonnaise, tomato sauce etc. The quantities shown in this recipe make 4 burgers.
Ingredients
- 400g Lean minced beef
- 2 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
Method
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mixing well.
- Divide the mixture into 4, or 8 if for small children, and form into a ball.
- Squash the ball to form a round patty.
- Place the patties under the grill or on to a barbeque and cook for approximately 5 minutes on each side. The cooking time will depend on the size and thickness of the burgers, so ensure each is thoroughly cooked.
- Remove the burgers from the heat and place into the rolls, making the sandwiches to taste.
