I know that truffles aren't really a dessert, but I don't relaly have a section for sweets, and I suspect I won't have many recipes for sweets either. But anyway, welcome to the chocolate truffle page, you've found it! I lvoe chocolate truffles, but I always find they cost a fortune. These truffles are truly delicious, simple to prepare, and look absolutely fantastic. Once you've made them you can coat them in whatever you please. Personally I like cocoa powder, dessicated coconut, chopped nuts, or chocolate flakes (a mixture of white, milk and dark chocolate coated truffles looks fantastic). The quantities shown here make enough truffles for at least 4 people.
Ingredients
- 250ml Double cream
- 275g Dark chocolate, broken into small chunks
- 50g Butter
- 50g Cocoa powder / dessicated coconut or whatever takes your fancy
Method
- Bring the cream to the boil slowly, and remove from the heat.
- Pour the cream over the chocolate, and stir well.
- Cool the chocolate mix and add the butter, mixing well.
- Place the mixture in the fridge to cool. Leave for at least an hour.
- Divide the mixture into bite-sized pieces and roll into balls using the palms of your hands. You may have to return the mixture to the fridge to keep it cool enough.
- Roll the balls into the cocoa powder to coat them, then eat and enjoy :-)
