Welcome to the home of the CrazySquirrel recipe section. This section is jam packed with recipes for all occasions. We have cooked all the recipes listed here and can confirm that everyone is a pleasure to prepare and eat.

One thing I have always fancied doing is writing a recipe book. I'm never realistically going to do it, and so my part of this site is going to be my book. I'm not a chef, I just love food; from my Dad I have inherited a love of growing food; from my Mum a love of harvesting; from my Nan a love of cooking and from my Granddad a love of eating! It amazes and depresses me that as a nation we seem to have lost all but the last love from our lives. I admit that there are times that I come home and the last thing I want to do is cook, but as a general rule, the hour I spend cooking and eating dinner is the best way for me to wind down after work.

As for the growing side of things, even when we lived in a flat without a garden I had to grow herbs on the windowsill. There is something about growing food that puts you back in touch with nature, even when living in a relatively large city. I am not a religious person, but for me there is something almost spiritual about working the vegetable patch, it's not always easy, but it is always rewarding and relaxing. If through this blog I can encourage just one person to grow something to eat I would be very satisfied. On the same note, if I can encourage just one person back into the kitchen, to make real food with real ingredients I will feel that this has been a success. I don't believe in fiddly cooking, or slaving for hours at the stove, so as a general rule the recipes will be simple and not too time consuming.

I'm hoping to make this a daily entry, with one new recipe for every day. In many cases the recipes will be most suitable for the approximate time of year when I put it up, this is down to one thing; availability of ingredients. Although now all foods are available at all times of the year in our supermarkets, at some times foods are rather more in the reach of my wage packet than at others! At the start of this year, my partner and I decided to try something new every day; this didn't have to be food, but given my love of it, I'm sure it's not surprising that I've tried out lots of new recipes. I hope that I can encourage you to join me on my little journey of discovery.

Anyway that's enough of an introduction, now it's down to the food!

The menu on the left hand side divides the dishes by the main component. Simply click the title to see a list of all the dishes under that heading.
