Who doesn't know and love this starter? The combination of flavours is incredibly delicious, and the preparation is very simple. Use any variety of mushroom that you have available, oyster, shitake and ceps work just as well as field and button mushrooms. Try using a mixture to get the varying individual flavours. The quantities shown here serve 4 when served as a starter with crusty French bread.
Ingredients
- 450g Mushrooms, wiped and cut into bite-sized pieces
- Butter, for frying
- 2 rashers Bacon, finely chopped
- 4 Cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 25g breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and ground black pepper
Method
- Melt the butter in a frying pan, and fry the mushrooms over a gentle heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the remaining ingredients and fry for a further 10 minutes, again over a gentle heat in order for the flavours to mix.
- Serve immediately.
