We all know that Google is censoring its search results for China but I was shocked by quite how much it is censoring the results by. If you can (this assumes you aren't in China) perform these two searchs:

Search for Tiananmen at the US Google Images

Search for Tiananmen at the Chinese Google Images

For those that can't see a difference because of filtering the US version (and the UK version) show a page that is essentially full of pictures of tanks enforcing the will of the people (or some other such nonsense). The Chinese version doesn't include a single tank picture. In fact if you were in China and this was your news source you think it had never happened. There is actually a tank picture on page 5 of the search results at the moment. I'm sure that will disapear soon.

Will I support Googles right to do whatever they want (within the confines of the law) I really think it is time they retracted their "do no evil" motto. While they may have managed to get into the Chinese market they have done so by giving up their morals. How can that be reconciled with the "do no evil" idea?
