Magnetic chucks are used to hold ferromagnetic pieces of work such as those made of steel. There are many designs of magnetic chuck but many are made from a combination of permanent and electromagnets. Centring can occasionally be difficult depending on the piece of work and the chuck is far more expensive than other designs.
