Well another month draws to a close with no turning done. The lathe is still in pieces under a cover in the dining room. I'm getting very restless now but there is no hope of doing any turning or really any other woodwork. Dad and I laid a loft floor which was fun but it's easy work compared to the skill and accuracy needed when turning. I'm starting to worry that I won't get back into turning once we have moved. The problem is that I am finding other ways to fill my time now and I'm concerned that I will get used to doing those. I've not even read the last three editions of Woodturning magazine yet! I think I'm going to start reading them though as the house move is going so badly by the time we have actually moved I'd have about two dozen back copies to read. If anyone wants to buy a four bed detached house in Southampton drop me a line I've got one to sell...

I've decided to try and learn a little CAD while I've got no turning to do. It's not going very well as I can't seem to work up the enthusiasm for it. I'm feeling generally unenthused about everything really. The only saving grace is that while living with my parents I've got access to Sky so I can watch the New Yankee Workshop and drool over the tools. Norm made a lovely round folding table the other day. More importantly though he explained how one makes curved sections of wood with nothing more than a bandsaw and jig - I'll have to give that a go. I've also been thinking about incorporating carbon fibre into my turnings in some way. I doubt carbon fibre can be turned (my guess would be little bits of fibre would go everywhere and they aren't good for you) but I could pre-mold pieces and incorporate them into the turning. It would certainly be different.
